Chalks Road and Church Road - junction improvements

Since the beginning of the project, concerns have been raised with the current layout of the Chalks Road and Church Road junction.&nbsp;Issues have been raised with how long it takes to cross the junction when walking, and how the pedestrian islands are narrow and not suitable to accommodate the number of people crossing between the high street and the park, especially those using wheelchairs and with pushchairs.&nbsp;Issues have also been raised around the banned turns and the impact that this would have on diversion routes if the trial scheme is implemented.&nbsp;We&#39;re will be improving pedestrian facilities and removing the banned right and left turns so that these movements would be allowed again.&nbsp;

We ran a statutory consultation on the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood scheme from 29 January to 20 February 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="https://eastbristolliveableneighbourhoods.commonplace.is/en-GB/news/go-ahead-for-east-bristol-liveable-neighbourhood-trial" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" id="isPasted"></a><a href="https://eastbristolliveableneighbourhoods.commonplace.is/en-GB/news/go-ahead-for-east-bristol-liveable-neighbourhood-trial" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Following the statutory consultation, the decision was made to approve the trial scheme in full.</a>We consulted on a number of measures that would change how people walk, cycle and drive in the area.The format of this consultation followed the statutory consultation process for creating a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) so that we can make legal changes to the highway.
