Cycle hangars for the trial scheme

A map showing the cycle hangars installed.

If you are interested in using one of the 15 cycle hangars, please go to LifeCycle's sign up website.

We have installed 15 cycle hangars across the pilot area as part of the trial scheme. The following streets were chosen through the feedback given by local people over the past year:

Barton Hill

  • Avonvale Road
  • Ford Street
  • Holmes Street
  • Lancaster Street
  • Mildred Street
  • Salisbury Street (x2)
  • York Street

Redfield

  • Verrier Road
  • Victoria Avenue / Witchell Road

St George

  • Beaconsfield Road
  • Diamond Road
  • Hedwick Avenue
  • Northcote Road
  • Richmond Road

Depending on funding and how the trial scheme goes, we hope to rollout more cycle hangars as part of the permanent scheme.

Please go to the next page to see how we have listened to your feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions (cycle hangars)

We used feedback from earlier stages in the project to suggest 15 locations for cycle hangars.

In late 2023 and early 2024, we contacted all residents who live near the proposed hangars to get feedback about the location and have made changes as a result.

Please see how we listened to that feedback here.

£42.50 per year plus a one-time £25 key deposit. This pays for maintenance, upkeep and enforcement.

Cycle hangars offer a high level of security.

The hangars have Diamond accreditation from Sold Secure.

We still recommend that you lock your bike within the cycle hangar.

No. Unfortunately, we cannot offer insurance for bikes in the hangars.

The impact of using a cycle hangar will depend on your policy. Please check with your provider if unsure.

Under most policies, cycle hangars are categorised as an "outside of the home" location. This also means that home insurance policies usually won't cover your bike.
